The play is about a Jewish family, the Bergers, who live together in a small apartment in the Bronx. The Sea Dog production features color blind casting, so almost every Berger is a different race or ethnicity. This could be jarring but as the play settles in it becomes a non-issue. It's the play's 90th anniversary but many of the themes feel contemporary. [more]

Tuesdays with Morrie

Seadog Theater’s current revival of "Tuesdays with Morrie," with exceptional direction by Erwin Maas, is a beautifully orchestrated presentation starring Len Cariou as Professor Morrie Schwartz and Christopher J. Domig as author Mitch Albom . The chemistry between these actors is riveting, grabbing one’s attention solidly but gently from the opening moments to the tearful end. The Catastrophe Club

Mr. Burnam’s futuristic conceit is engrossing and the theme of a repressed figure looking back at a more joyous way of life is potent. The present day portions are amiable but only fitfully compelling, so The Catastrophe Club doesn’t quite fulfill its striking premise. Reaching a polished and wistful conclusion, and with its site-specific presentation, it sustains its 90 minute length with interest. [more]
