Darryl Reilly, Critic
TheaterScene.net critic Darryl Reilly was a recent guest on the New York City-based theater company Ruth Stage’s podcast, After Dark. The 80-minute interview was conducted by the troupe’s Creative Director Matt de Rogatis, Treasurer Spencer Scott and Chief Executive Officer Joe Rosario. Mr. Rosario will direct the first Off-Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in January 2022, for the group. This was discussed in the opening portion of the program and tickets are still available for a raffle being held to fund this production; the drawing is June 26, 2021.
During Mr. Reilly’s breezy segment his life, career and views on theater were discussed. The Bronx-born Reilly has been a critic for seven years, is a member of the Drama Desk and has a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Making a special appearance was Gizmo, a very distant relative of Wasabi, the Pekingese who just won Best in Show at the 2021 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
