When Broadway Shows Will Be Opening (or Re-Opening)
More than 30 Broadway productions listed below are expected to open or re-open before year's end.

More than 30 Broadway productions–which I’ll list below–are expected to open or re-open before year’s end. Producers are gambling that by the fall, audiences will be ready to return. I’ll list below the shows and projected opening dates, as it stands now. (And this is still in flux. Info changes almost every day.) Fingers crossed! Lights should be returning to Broadway this fall…
There are still a lot of unknowns, of course. No one knows, for example, what the tourist situation will be, come fall. And tourists traditionally buy a lot of theater tix. And no one knows if the pandemic will be fading out in the fall or–due to emerging variants–be resurgent.
As someone who’s passionate about theater, I’m hoping that everything works out and that Broadway (and off-Broadway, and regional productions, and all other forms of the art) can get back to “normal,” or something like that. I’m hoping for a robust recovery of the arts (and everything else) as soon as possible. We will see….

Plays that have not yet announced when they might possibly open (or re-open) include, to the best of my knowledge: American Buffalo, Sing Street, and West Side Story.
The Broadway productions of Hangmen and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, which were in previews when the pandemic hit, were cancelled. And the Broadway productions of Frozen and Mean Girls, which were running when the pandemic hit, have closed.
